About Colleen Acosta
Fairway
Farms head trainer Colleen Acosta has a long history of
success in both the Hunter and the Jumper ring. Colleen
started riding as a child with her mother in Florida
where she learned the basics of riding and her love of
horses. Colleen began her professional career with
Katie Young in Jacksonville, Florida. After working with
Katie for 5 years, she and her husband were transferred
to Dallas, Texas where she worked at Woodhill Farm with
Matt Cyphert for 8 years before transitioning to a head
trainer role. Colleen established Fairway Farm in
2019.
Colleen
has been extremely successful in the Grand Prix Jumper
arena in recent years with Diamond, Lancelot, Viola,
Lights Out, Lancôme, and Himini. Some of her wins with
Evelyn Grace LLC’s Himini are the Grand Prix De Santa
Fe, Great Southwest Winter Series Welcome Stake, Great
Southwest Winter Classic Grand Prix, as well as the
Brownland Farm Autumn Country Grand Prix. She has also
placed successfully with several other horses in Welcome
Stakes and jumper classes at all levels. In addition to
the jumper ring, Colleen has won and has had numerous
placing in both International Hunter Derbies and USHJA
National Derbies on multiple horses. She has placed in
the top 25 in the USHJA International Hunter Derby
Finals several times, and has campaigned horses
successfully to national placing in the Green Hunter
Incentive Program.
As a
trainer Colleen has qualified horses and riders for the
most prestigious horse shows in the nation. Her students
and horses have been successful with placing at Devon,
Capital Challenge, Harrisburg, The Washington
International Horse Show, and the National Horse Show in
Kentucky. She has also qualified and had students ribbon
at the FEI Young Riders Jumping North American
Championship, Children’s Regional Jumper championships,
Adult Hunter Regional Championships, and USEF Pony
Finals.
Colleen
enjoys teaching, training, and fostering a welcoming
family environment at Fairway Farm. We are an active
show barn and enjoy showing across the country
throughout the year. Colleen has great experience and
success developing young horses and riders, as well
appropriately matching horses to her clients. She
welcomes students who are committed to learning and
horsemanship from children to adults into her program.
